Need for Speed World gets a new large feature: Visual Customization!
Next week on tuesday the new update will implement a new "Aftermarket Shop", where you can buy new parts and start building your dream ride.
Some aftermarket parts are available with in-game cash, while others will be purchased exclusively with SpeedBoost, but there’s more than enough available to make everyone happy.
While Ebisu and Glendale made already their appereance in the predecessor Need for Speed Shift, the other two tracks Dijon-Prenois and Dubai Autodrome celebrate their debut in the upcoming Shift 2 Unleashed.
You can find details and screenshots of the tracks available in Shift 2 Unleashed here:
A new trailer of Shift 2 Unleashed was released, featuring the dangerous turns and corners in the game:
SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED is the only racing game that allows you to experience not only the terror of racing around infamous corners at breakneck speed, but also the exhilaration of mastering those epic challenges. You will never see a corner the same way again. Sunday drives are for grandmothers!
Speedhunters published an extensive FAQ, where several questions from the community about Shift 2 Unleashed were answered.
Among many new screenshots some interesting facts were revealed:
how realistic is tire wear? Do different pressures and compounds impact tire life.
Tire wear (along with heat) is modeled and is pretty realistic. Safe to say you'll know you've abused your tyres. For pressures, they affect the tyre spring rate, and the across the tread heating, so ultimately will affect life of the tire.
So how does the painting work? Pre-determined liveries or what?
Each car comes with a group of preset race liveries along with a set of preset colours. Additionally, one can paint the car or the individual body parts with a full range of custom colours and paint types including Gloss, Metallic, Candy, Pearlescent, Chrome, Matte and Flip (twin colour).
You can also make your own custom race livery too. And YES the logos and layouts can be mirrored from one side of the car to the other along with new controls for sizing and placement. You can also determine if the stickers/vinyls are matte or gloss finished for tone on tone effects.

A new Shift 2 Unleashed trailer was released, featuring the Autolog Drift Challenge between 2010 Formula Drift Champion Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Need for Speed driver Matt Powers:
Both drivers took some time to customize their cars (both visual and performance) then took them on the track to see who could rack up the best drift score. Even though they weren't in the same room, they still got to see each other's drift score through Autolog. In the end Vaughn Gittin Jr. won with the better score but thanks to Autolog, Matt Powers can keep trying for a better score and turn the tables on Vaughn.
This trailer featured a remixed version 'Levitate' by Hollywood Undead.
Ve3tro created and uploaded several new videos of Shift 2 Unleashed, showing the recently announcedPagani Huayra racing at the Nordschleife, or the tuning/customizing the VW Golf GTI!

The Community Patch v1.05 already brought several bugfixes and improvements for Need for Speed Shift, but the Overhaul Mod goes a step further and contains modifications on the physics components and plenty visual, audio, and gameplay tweaks.
The Overhaul Mod was released in v2.0 at the end of February with the following features:
1) Many, many, many bugs have been fixed - every bugfix from Unofficial Community Patch 1.05 and several more. It turns out, Shift is actually a much better game once you get rid of a bunch of low level data bugs! :)
2) Practically every physics component of the game has been altered with the aim of improving basic data accuracy and in-game consistency between cars. Suspensions, engines and aerodynamics have been altered to reflect per-car and per-upgrade level changes more accurately than in the stock game. There are also many changes to default car setups and controller profiles to give better feedback and response to control input, particularly for wheel users.
3) An extremely large number of visual, audio, and gameplay tweaks have been provided by members of the Shift community, either removing outright or giving you the option to remove several other annoyances from the stock game.
The installation can be quite complex, so make sure to read the installation thread at the NoGripRacing board:
